Another Day without Electricity

All hell breaks loose when there is no electricity for an entire day in Summer. People get easily annoyed and shout/ fight over petty things. I do. Well, the unfriendly HEAT gets into the head, that is all. We, this year, are experiencing a lot of power-cuts and it is awful. There is this one advantage of having our classes canceled. The teachers oblige happily. But without electricity, what are we to do!

We guys play cricket in the scorching heat and we are the only ones in college doing so, presently. Ah, we have the entire playground to ourselves and yes, we are a little too crazy to actually play in that dreadful weather. With only a few days left in the last semester, what do you expect? After playing for a couple of hours, after the amusing fights we get into while playing, after having exhausted ourselves completely and getting all soaked in sweat, we have a long walk to the MUC(Madras University Canteen) only to hydrate ourselves with chilled water, chilled flavoured soda/ pet bottles of pepsi/ miranda/ 7Up, a grape or an orange candy, whatsoever is available. Ah, BLISSFUL! It is not really easy to put it in words, that very moment when the chilled whatever rushes through your throat. It will be apt to say that it feels like drinking directly from the fountain of youth. It feels like being reincarnated! *laughs*

I have drifted again. Back to the topic! I had planned on watching a movie, downloading a few songs, reading a short story last friday. And when I reached home(after playing cricket), there wasn't any electricity- from five in the evening till ten in the night. Everything flopped. So, there are power-cuts. "They are saving something for the future." Errr.. This beats me.

You have a bar of chocolate with you. And I tell you it is that last one on Earth. What do you do? Eat it ? Preserve it? Eat half of it and then preserve it for the posterity? A dumb analogy, right. But power-cuts in the middle of a summer are even more dumber. Well, it is just that I had a terrible, terrible evening. If only they cut power in winter instead of summer!

I had to sit without electricity for a while even in the exam hall today!

A day to remember

The last few months in college have been very exciting and entertaining. A semester that was much required, a semester that we guys deserved. A lot of Cricket, a lot of bantering and a couple of outings has made this last semester very special and remember-able. And I ended up making a few cool friends in these last few weeks. Glad that I did.

Mother's day has always been special. And today was no less. Only this time I wasn't at home, almost the whole day. Ending on a bad note the previous(Saturday) night, I went to bed to sleep it off. And Sunday morning was as horrible as always with mom waking me up while cleaning my room. Darn, seven in the morning is too early to get up on a Sunday morning. I did sleep again, woke up a little late, only to prepare my share of tea. I am easily the most awful person you'll come across when it comes to kitchen-work. Surprisingly, the tea tasted good. A good sign. That was the first high point of the day.

My mobile lay on the bed untouched, with a few text messages unread. The messages were comforting, perfect to start the day with. I saw Sherlock Holmes waiting to be read on the table and reading I did. Loved the short story I read! I wished mom and then we went out for a small walk and did some purchasing. While walking, I noticed that I have been endevouring to have a great weekend from a few weeks and I clearly wasn't having one. I decided to visit a friend nearby for lunch, hoping it would be fun. And it turned out to be more than that!

The terrace. Having played Cricket for very many years on the terrace at my place in Salem, I have always had a liking for it(the terrace). The friend's place, well, they have a lovely terrace- not too high, spacious, a mango tree to protect everyone from the heat, gentle and soothing breeze to again beat the heat and a splendid view of the lane nearby. We, the three of us, had a long conversation there- discussing college, movies, psychology, para-psychology, school, hostel life, etc.; no matter how many times these topics are touched upon, neither do they fade nor get tagged as being boring. A spectacular evening.

On reaching home, another friend arrived and we had a short chat on movies and music. I love it when this guy chills me off during semester exams. He came to collect movies and songs. CHEERS! Apparently, he is the only one who gives me hope during exams. Our standard exam preparation statement- "You are not alone, even I am yet to start! Who has the study materials for the subject? ". It is wonderful to have friends who are similar to you. He was keen to watch the movie V for Vendatta and left after a while. India did lose the match, but I am too glad to get saddened at their loss. The day has almost ended and I guess I'll read another short story of Doyle's before I find myself on bed. May you all have an enjoyable month- May.

It does sound like any other ordinary day. Perhaps, I should have titled this post "A day with friends", but that title could hold hundreds of posts. I ll stick to the current title. Enjoy friends. Take care :)

Agatha Christie

Murder mysteries are readable(enjoyable) when the plot spun by the author stays suspenseful with heavy yet credible twists here and there till the end. There are a few authors who never fail to disappoint. And one such writer is Agatha Christie. Agatha Christie, the Queen of Crimes, has written many novels featuring a Belgian detective Hercule Poirot, an elderly lady Miss Marple and other other novels with no particular protagonist. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes is undoubtedly considered the best when it comes to detectives, yet there are many (including me) who prefer the Belgian detective to the coveted, undisputed legend Sherlock Holmes.When it comes to WHO DID IT genre, Christie is simply at the top of the list.

Having read a lot of her work, I'll recommend three of my favourite books of Christie.

1)And then there were none was first written in the 1930s under the name Ten Nigger Boys- a nursery rhyme being the theme of the book. The book is not only intriguing but very carefully written with justified characterisation. As in most of her stories, this one too has a WHO DID IT element in it and leaves the reader spell-bound when the plot unfolds at the very end. If one reads this one, he/she is bound to read many more of Christie's work. It has been made into a motion picture and also been remade in Hollywood! That is really something.

2)Murder on the Orient Express was my first suspense novel; and was it good, you bet it was. The revelation will have a magical effect on you. No matter how acute a reader you are, it is very unlikely that you will spot this mystery! An extremely well planned murder plot!

3)Murder of Roger Ackroyd left me thinking if anyone but her could have used the meaning of the word alibi in a better way! Though the book was a drag, it had an entirely surprising ending, unveiling in the most unconventional manner.

There are other novels of her's which are equally better. But these three stand out and occupy the top three positions in my list of Agatha's work.

The End is Over

Hello friends,

It has been a month since I last wrote. A friend said a story and was it wonderful! I have no intention of sharing it now. The waiting for the end of the year 2009 is over and I thought of posting something on the 31st, in vain. First things first. My classmates aren't all that bad. All are humans, and they say things, hurting sometimes, intentional and unintentional, but they are, at the end of day, YOUNG. We had, what I'll call the best trip we have had in the last four years, a camp at Yercaud, Salem. And did we have a blast! Do not be alarmed, this is not a travelogue.

The month of December was a roller-coaster ride. The end of semester exams, the camping at Yercaud, the witnessing of a proposal(which did not have a happy ending, unfortunately), the attending of aptitude tests(placements) and facing the all-time feared Interview panel. As rightly said in the movie 3-Idiots, ALL IS WELL or rather ALL WENT WELL... Some moments should not be captured(in 2D picture), they ought to be remembered. The glow on the faces of friends, classmates when their names were either called out or put on the notice board said it all- A sense of accomplishment, a feeling of self-respect(esteem). It was that day, I saw them smile. Really smile :) It was the same smile that children get on receiving a candy for doing something good. Something very similar to that. Ah, it was fantastic. We still have friends who are due to give the good news. Hopefully, all will be well, and we'll get many more smiles in this month. Congrats to the 25 guys/gals in my class and congrats to all my friends in other departments. Waiting for the photos and videos of the Yercaud trip to write my first travelogue :D

22 minutes before the exam- A Thriller

"Exams are scary."
"Man, I did not sleep last night. I think I'll fall on my desk while writing today!"
"I hope dehydration does not stop my head from functioning!"
"No food for 16 hrs straight, I might flunk today."

People get the strangest of thoughts just seconds before the commencement of exams. I have had my share too. The top three situations where I literally panicked:

3) First Semester(2006). We had a paper on Chemistry. I was overconfident on easily passing the exam thanks to the internal marks of 45 on 50 and hence went out with family to the restaurants, shopping malls, etc., on the penultimate day of the semester exam only to land up with the chemistry book in my room at ten in the night. Feeling tired, I feel onto my book. I got up at five in the morning and BAM, triggered the panic button... On scanning the paper, my face went pale. No clue whatsoever on two 16-mark questions. Attended 55 marks, literally filled a page or two with answers completely irrelevant. I was sure of flunking for the first time ever. Fortunately, got a 'C'!

2) Second Semester(2007). I had a positive inclination towards Engineering Mechanics and Maths; these had sums and when you have three hours for a single paper, numerical problems keep the paper far from being boring. But, I was down with viral fever before the E.Mechanics exam and even thought of skipping the test on the belief that I'll take up the test after a few months. Mom said to give it a try. I could barely talk or walk! I attended 60 marks, of which 15 marks were mere attempt with the sole intention of clearing the paper! Got a 'B'! Luck do exist!

1) Final Exam(12th Standard, 2006) I remember wishing I were dead that day! I was so not ready to get into the examination hall. I wished for an earthquake! DOOMSDAY! CM's demise, ANYTHING MAN!! I was that unprepared. Well, it did not turn out well. This, I believe, is the best(and hopefully remain the best) panic attack I have ever had(I'll ever have). It was that bad!

As we grow, we learn. Or that is what is believed. Our fears fade and vanish. We had a semester exam today(23th Nov., Monday). The funniest part was that I started and completed a Hardy Boys novel the night before the exam. And again I slept with the false belief that I'll manage to wake up and read something pertaining to the subject- Cadastral Sureverying. IN VAIN. I got up at seven in the morning, all thanks to the phone call of Vignesh who, by the way, is the hero of this short, sweet thriller :)

Seven in the morning, with the sun rays energizing every cell in my body and the hot tea doing its magic, I went through the headlines. LOL. I did not believe it was yet time to hit the panic button. Shower. Breakfast. Friend on Bike. College. Vignesh was all geared up- book in one hand, cell phone in the other, smiling on our entry. Typical, caring IYER.

There we were, exchanging notes and thoughts on the chapters we learned. Co-operate to Dominate :) Everything was going well. Time-9:02 AM. We packed up the necessities and walked to the examination hall and BAM! A virtual hammer hit me real hard! All this time, while we were happily cooperating to dominate, listening to part-lessons, part-stories to be written in the answer paper, my HALL TICKET lay in my room at HOME!

Very many people in the world have the talent to screw things at the very last moment, and I too belong to that elite group! So, with 25 minutes in hand, Vignesh with no second thoughts agrees to accompany me in yet another thriller. We rush to the parking lot and race our way through the traffic! What a waste, we were stuck on the last place anyone would wish to get stuck- on the topmost portion of a bridge! Nevertheless, we raced and reached the examination room a little over time. 9:32. We were allowed to write; we would have been allowed even if we were 15 minutes late. But then, this was thrilling and strangely we did not, or rather I did not hit the PANIC BUTTON.

Thanks to Vignesh the day was saved. A treat awaits him. :)

The Two Facets

The Misery of being anybody

Another Chapter coming to an End

Hello folks,

I am in my fourth year of college, as most of you know, the final year of my first programme in college. Life in college, I would say, is one of an explorer. We start by making acquaintances, friends and even more, and gradually move to the short journey in college trying out things we wished we tried earlier, and as time flies by, a few new ones get appended automatically. I had my share- dancing, cricket, new genres of music, writing, reading, video-games, watching movies- on the verge of completing my Classic list, trying out practical stuff in math, text-messaging, mailing, chatting and then there is blogging. Apart from learning all those damned courses prescribed by the so-called-faculty, playing with Ubuntu(a Linux based OS), PSP, etc., will be the chapters that I would look back to, a lot, in the following chapters of my life. Oh boy, I sound like a grown-up already! This paragraph I write in the memory of the line “The wilderness must be explored”-Movie UP

I doubt if I ll miss college, I have never missed school. I doubt if I ll miss my friends for there are too many people in this world and there is no shortage of good ones, unlike what they say in books and movies. If only we search…And when there is internet, how can we miss our buddies, they are always present. The different transition a person goes through during the different phases of life in the game of life is fascinating. Well, I have a strange habit of surprising myself and the transition part is indeed a statement for which I consider myself as being the experimental rat. College has thought me, apart from the curriculum, a lot of things. No wonder more than half the people I meet say college life is cool, college life is for enjoying, college life is this and college life is that. They miss the most important part. College life is a period of discovering oneself. Or is it after college life. Or is it a lifetime process. I disagree. It is that one moment of truth when you know that you love to do THIS and not THAT. People are clear on what they want to do and what they have to do right from 11^th standard. Rubbish. How could they? They are young, vulnerable and are capable of having depression hits often. So, in this lifelong learning process, college is a bridge to freedom. Freedom of free thinking, freedom to explore. This paragraph is in the awful memory of my days when I was down with Chickenpox, for it was then that i promised myself that I would write and share my thoughts if I were alive. Yeah, it was that painful.

I would love to have this freedom of thoughts, freedom to explore in my workplace. And I wish the chapters that aren’t yet written continue to come out nicely. This line is in the memory of that one book I read about the life of Sidney Sheldon- The Other Side of Me.

I longed to write something for the blog. Had to scribble something today. And yeah, tomorrow we are going to have our first, official placement talk. Give, send a lot of positive energy…my handwriting is breaking… smiles…

Yet Another Failure

Hello everybody,

Oops, there is a story (Young Tsang, The Dog and The Proposal) to complete. Sorry, I'll complete it next week. Two weeks back, my classmates(read as friends) were all excited to log everything that we experienced in college, every exciting moment in college, all the happy and not-so-happy moments, all the mocking, all the humours, all the crushes if there were any, almost everything with fine details. I was all so excited and recommended a Class Blog! A Class Diary, what an idea Sirji! All sounded really exciting, in vain. In less than three days, my classmates got busy with THINGS and forget the conversation we had. Only if I log the short, cute happenings in college as I remember(now), will I be in a position to refresh my memory very many years from now. But not all desire to share their memories, which leaves me to refrain myself from scribbling many, many posts pertaining to college life. No wonder the other blog, College Life, is dormant.

History has been one of my favourite subjects since school days. And blogging is such a wonderful idea to write down (in a virtual medium) our own story. Our experiences. Our problems. Our idea of the World! Yes, we may not wish to write all the incidents, all the details, and yet, sharing few memories might bring a smile to many a face.

I got up from my slumber and had to post this before I changed my mind! May you be lucky enough to start your Class blog. :)

Young Tsang, The Dog and The Proposal.

Once upon a time, in a far off island, lived a young lad. His clan, The Tsang, was happy and complete. The singing, the dancing, the telling of happy-ending stories never ceased. The young boy, confused and in need of a friend, wandered around the place in search of something fresh; something really new, like an explorer. The lad's name was Young Tsang, an uncommon name indeed. Young Tsang was a misfit. He was excited about things he did not understand, happy to find new trees and fruits, elated when his style of clothing was admired and so he was always on the look out for something or the other, a wanderer, a born explorer. Being the trend-setter in that vast island, he loved to travel on foot and strech his knowledge on land. Young Tsang and his clan were completely unaware of all the other means of travel.

Not far from home, the lad's eye met with a dog. He was anything but repulsed. The lad smiled at the dog and the dog returned the favour. It is strange, he thought, that a dog is more friendly than most of the pretentious people in his clan, more loyal than anyone he had met and possibly the most reliable living creature he knew of. The dog followed him for an hour. Soon, they were friends; friends for forever. Young Tsang grew and was not that young anymore. Everyone knew that one day Tsang would go out for good in search of truth, in search of Heaven. Young Tsang, along with the dog, set on exploring the vast island.

A week passed. The lad felt happy to have experienced viewing some exotic places which he had never even dreamt of. The dog was ever faithful for having a loving master and friend. The next day it rained hard. The dog ran and ran to find proper shelter. It did find a warm place built ages back. A cave with scripts all over it. The lad and the dog rested there due to the inclement weather. The lad, with the help of the dog, made the unkempt place look green and neat. Tsang loved adventure and this very style of living was nothing short of an adventure.

One dull morning, the lad spotted a boat. Frightened by the massiveness of the hull of the boat, Tsang assumed it to be a mytical monster! He stood, a few meters away from the boat, petrified. A young girl with a angelic face was merrily singing near the boat. Tsang was love-stuck! Never ever had he seen a more angelic face than hers. Never ever had he seen anything/anybody so beautiful.

Stop shattering Windows!

Don't worry guys. No more geeky posts after this one. At least not for a few months.

Why Linux?

Windows, no doubt, was the first OS we as kids were introduced to. The GUI of Windows made it the most popular OS in use. And it is still the most popular OS available in the market. But are we satisfied? After spending lavishly on Windows, and on the Anti-virus software; and on the various proprietary software, all that we as users wish for is an easy way to get our job done. Strangely, this does not happen. We get bogged down by various errors and viruses in Windows which in turn results in discontentment. I still remember the day when my teacher introduced me to the world of computers. The first thing he mentioned when the Windows screen appeared was The Three Finger Salute(CTRL+ALT+DEL). Haven't we used this legendary combination umpteen times! Why not try something different, something more flexible, something free of cost!

On technical grounds, the word Linux refers to a set of programs which is known as the kernel. But the vast public think of it as a complete OS. Nevertheless, this article will concentrate on How a new user can get used to Linux. As Ubuntu is the most preferred Linux-based OS, I recommend working on it. Firstly, any OS requires installation. Really? Well, it is possible to run Ubuntu through a live CD/DVD. It is similar to a test-drive wherein the user can check for both hardware compatibility and driver support. All this without installation, isn't that great folks! Ubuntu can even be installed within windows(Wubi installation). A clear, detailed and sophisticated installation procedure is given in http://www.ceglug.org/

It is after the installation that many users feel a little out-of-place. Most of us already have the misconception that Linux is complex and is only for the developers and advanced users. It is high time we fine-tune our thoughts if we are uncomfortable with Windows.

Explore!

When it comes to GUI, Windows and Ubuntu are similar. The flexibility though in the case of the latter is a big plus. You can start by exploring the default applications available. You'll find that there are alternatives for most of the common applications used in Windows. GIMP instead of Photoshop, Open office for Microsoft Office, Rhythmbox music player for Windows media player, Firefox web browser for IE, Pidgin Messenger which clubs most of the popular messengers, VLC media player, Transmission Bit-torrent client and many other such important and daily-used applications.

Add/Remove programs and Synaptic Package Manager

Add/Remove programs under Applications is an extremely useful tool. It allows you to add or remove applications at the click of a button. You'll be surprised to see the variety of applications available under each head. You can browse thorough the categories to find the required applications or search using the Search box available. However, for more advanced needs the synaptic manager is used.

Ubuntu Tweak

Ubuntu Tweak allows you to tweak your system settings, all in one place. You can install new applications, customize your desktop settings, configure your start-up applications, change the system file type association and many more tweaks in this single application. Image tools, video tools, emulators, file-sharing tools, instant messengers, FTP tools, CD/DVD tools and many more applications pertaining to our needs can be easily downloaded with the click of a button. It is fully user-interactive eliminating the use of command line. To install Ubuntu Tweak, use Terminal.

Applications → Accessories → Terminal. Enter the command:

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-tweak

Then access it through Applications → System Tools → Ubuntu Tweak

Install applications like Compiz Fusion, Gnome Do.

System → Preferences→ CompizConfig Settings Manger

Explore the various options to make your desktop look envious! Desktop Cube, Rotate Cube, Expo, 3D Windows, Wobbly windows, Ring switcher are very impressive.

Getting connected to the Internet

It is not unusual to have a lot of doubts in the beginning. Internet is one of the best sources to access for information/clarifications. The recent versions of Ubuntu support all major Ethernet cards. Possibly, you'll get connected to the internet automatically if you are using plug-in-play modems. But in case you have the settings in a manner that you manually connect to the internet keying in username and password in Windows, then you'll have to configure once in Ubuntu.

Open terminal. Type

sudo pppoeconf

An interactive blue screen appears. It scans for the Ethernet cards available. Proceed to the screen wherein Username is asked. Specify your Username and Password. At the verge of completion, it asks if you would prefer the saved settings to run during boot time. Choose Yes. Internet is up and ready! Those interested in working with the terminal, can also try the following

sudo dhclient (or)

sudo pppconfig (an interactive approach appears)

Also,

sudo pon dsl-provider for connecting to the internet

sudo poff dsl-provider for disconnecting from the internet.(Usually, it is not used. The cable is simply plugged out)

WiFi is automatically detected. And in the case of broadband, once connected, it is not necessary to type in the command line for getting connected to the internet again.

Getting used with the terminal:

Terminal is the command line. It is similar to the Command Prompt in Windows. Most of us are scared of using the command line. I was very reluctant to use the terminal in the beginning. The reason being obvious- the pointing and clicking of buttons with the mouse for very many years. Using the terminal can save ample amount of time! I'll give shoot one of my experiences- For downloading anything, for instance Firefox, I have to run a search engine and then perform 5-6 clicks whereas a single line would perform the same in the terminal.

sudo apt-get install firefox

Ubuntu Forums is of great help when it comes to using the terminal. The terminal can be used for configuring printers, cards, etc., almost everything is possible in the terminal, from editing, creating, moving, copying of files to the opening of applications by simply typing the name of the application.

Nautilus and Gnome Do

Nautilus is the official file manager for the Gnome desktop. It is similar to the Run application in Windows. The recent folders can easily be located thorough Nautilus. Alt+F2 is the combination for invoking Nautilus.

Gnome Do, an application launcher has the potential to amuse anyone! It is elegant, very stylish and the best thing is it can help us perform things as quickly as possible. Do away with the mouse and start Gnome Do! Gnome Do is readily available for installation in Ubuntu Tweak. Starting an application, opening a file, tweeting, chatting, searching for files, mounting drives, playing music , searching Google maps, opening an URL are some of the basic features possible using this addictive application launcher. With a vast variety of plug-ins, Gnome Do is simply irresistible.

Sytem → Preferences → Keyboard Shortcuts is used to define user-defined short-cuts for the most-used applications. It is a good practice to have short cuts for invoking Terminal, Gnome Do, etc.

Ubuntu(Linux) is fun. We have spent years and years on Windows and yet many of us are oblivious of the ways that Windows functions and the causes for so many errors. Let's try Ubuntu for a couple of days; maybe a week or two alongside Windows and feel the difference.

Note: If you are impressed and wish to give a shot at Ubuntu, be careful during the installation process. Don't land up clicking the wrong options and losing your Windows!

I have included a few command lines for fun, with no intention of scaring anyone! :D

Someone broke my Window(s)

I hate it when I have to fix my system. From the age of fifteen I have been in a series of battles with (Microsoft's)Windows. Not that I hated it back then but we were, by no means, on good terms! After a series of precautions, yet again I find myself hating the experience of the installation process. To hell with Windows. And to hell with the guys who started the concept of Virus in the first place. Oh, I forgot to mention the reason for my whining, silly me. Last week my laptop was used by friends while I was happily playing Cricket with the not-so-busy, awesome souls. It was a Friday. I was happy and calm after playing cricket. Until... At home, the following morning(Saturday) I enter Windows to remove some of the redundant software only to find the fatal, the brutal, the ever-so-feared system32 error. What more? My mouse pointer starts break-dancing to the music playing on TV! Hopeless! I strongly feel many of you may have been in similar situations.

I rarely use Windows, thanks to a friend who is well-versed with Linux. So, when I bought my laptop I installed the damned Windows Vista and the cool, very flexible Ubuntu(an OS based on Linux). I have already posted a few screenshots of Ubuntu. One of my so-called achievements is I never re-installed any OS on my laptop. But this record shattered last weekend :( Sad, I know. All thanks to a pen drive. All thanks to the IRS(Institute of Remote Sensing), the place which is considered to be the storehouse for all sorts of Viruses. Oh well, I am happy though, for the files I consider important are unaffected thanks to the concept of Partitioning.

I have rebuild my Window(s) :P. Only this time, I ll refrain from the idea of not using an Anti-virus software. And yeah, am still using Ubuntu and getting better at it.

Some of you might be wondering about What this Ubuntu thingy is :D It is an OS which is linux-based but is user-friendly. I mention it cause the word LINUX frightens a lot of people I know. Well, even I get frightened by the word sometimes. Ubuntu comes free of cost. 100% Freedom. Freedom to alter applications, freedom to alter the kernel, freedom to play as and how an user wants to... Now, that is truly called POWER!

Sathyam Heroes: PART THREE

A policeman appears in front of our bike. Iyer doesn't stop. The front tyre is in between the policeman's legs :) and our beloved Iyer is bending his right hand inwards... trying to accelerate the vehicle to full speed... The policeman, totally disgusted, shows fast reflexes, does some stunt, and pulls the key of the vehicle!!!

Typical Bollywood style.

Hell with Rhonda Byrne's theory, hell with The Secret, hell with all the energies, hell with Meta-Physics. Life gets screwed when we least expect it to. That is the only secret!

Policeman 1: ******, ********, you punks.... you think you can drive as you want... you crazy idiots...

Iyer and Neo did not break any law. This was classic. Show at 1630. Caught by police at 16:11. And guys were counting on them for the tickets.

Iyer: What happened? What did we do?

Policaman: Shut up. Shut the **** up. One more word and you good-for-nothing fellows will be in more trouble than you think.

Neo: ID card....

Iyer: errr....

Neo: Wear your ID..

Policeman2: Nerves. Nerves you have got to run into a policeman.

Iyer: Sir, we thought he was trying to catch the other bike. We did notice the signal and it was yellow, not red!

Iyer was keeping the policemen busy. Neo, nicely, slipped the 1000 odd he had into one of the strange pockets of his baggy.

Policaman1: (getting aggressive) So, you are speaking rules now... Why the hell were you accelerating then ! Have any answer!!!

Iyer: Sir!! What?

Neo: Hello...Mu2... man, we screwed a little... we got caught on the turn to the right to the way to Sathyam by two hippos... two fatheads... come as soon as possible...oh wait, reach the theatre. I think we'll settle it here...

Mu2: what !!! right to the way to the what! MAKE SENSE, will you ???

CLICK... CLICK... All hail Airtel !

Policeman2 and Policeman1 were busy ranting with Iyer... Neo joined him waving his college ID card.

Policeman1 : Where were you two going!

Neo: To a friend's house nearby.

Policeman2: You are students, aren't you? students these days, i tell you.....blah blah blah

Iyer and Neo:(in a chorus) We study at ANNA UNIVERSITY.

Being in a top college of India helps! It really does in Chennai. If not the IITs, Anna will do...

A short pause... Change of behaviour!!!

Policeman1: What do you think? What if you are students there? You think we'll let you go. You broke the rules... Mount Road... You understand.

Iyer: But we did not...

Policeman1: enough!

Policeman2 taunting... for money...

Time- 16:16

Policemen tried scaring Iyer and Neo with paperwork. They were already getting late for the movie!

Policeman: yeah... how much do u have!

Neo: 50

Iyer: 100

Neo was red as brick. He would have murdered Iyer there. Right there.

Policeman1: WHAT! 50, 100... what is this! don't you fool with me.

Iyer does the craziest thing ever. He opens his purse. The police thinks he has succeeded in his act of terrorizing Iyer! DUMEER!!!!!! There is nothing in the purse except a single 10 rupee note. Policeman1 was motionless. Shocked. Neo smiled. Policeman2 noticed. Now it was his turn !

Policaman2 : I'll file you. You people love playing games eh...

Policeman1: Wait. How much do you have.

Neo: me!!!

Neo: I...

Neo flipped his purse and there were only a few notes of ten! Policemen lost hope.

Policeman1: Give it all.

Neo: But...but...

Iyer: How are we to proceed without any money!

Policeman2: You were on your way to your friend, right. He will take care of you.

Policamen smirked.

Neo: let us move. fast.

Iyer and Neo were only 100 mts from Sathyam and all this incident happened!

SO NEAR AND YET SO FAR.

Meanwhile BJ, Dinesh, Mama, Avinesh, Sabbu were on their way in a bus. They were close. Mu2 and Yogu, in their bike, were nearing the theatre! Neo rushed to the ticket counter and.....

Neo: Nine tickets for QGM, please.

The Guy: Sorry sir, we are out. We have only 5 tickets.

Neo: Oh, What about the 19:15 show?

The guy: (Smiling) I was referring to that show ! The tickets to the 1630 show are out for good!

SHUDDER!!!!

TIMEER! TIMEER!!

DUMEER!!!!!!!!!

BJ: we are here!!!

Sabbu: Am ready to watch any movie!

Mu2: INOX... I called INOX.. i think it will again be a disaster... let us try somewhere near.. what say everyone!

Yogu was still busy staring and we again joined him. Sathyam is cool :D

Yogu: look...look... that poster...

Mu2: We thought you were busy looking at ga...people... never mind...Great...there is a theater called Pilot nearby! n the next show is at 18:50

Mokka: What?! Pilot... yeah, then we'll have sailors, aircraft, sailors, driver, bus, auto and what not as names of theaters!

Not many smiled. And very few laughed. Mooka has a sense of humour that takes time to understand. Sometimes, we just don't unless he explains...

Sabbu: I want to watch a movie at Sathyam

Iyer: I think I'll leave now and join you guys tomorrow.

Neo: Is the theater air-conditioned?

BJ : Am ready!

Avi: Do you have a bus-stop... it may be late by the time the movie ends?

Iyer: I think am already late!

Neo: Is the theatre air-condiditoned?

Mama: !!!!!!

Mu2: ?????

The gang forgot they were OUTSIDE. Outside college. At Sathyam. Commotion, commotion, commotion. The conversation was so loud that there would have been at least 50 fresh glances in less than 50 seconds ! We deserve to come on TV :D

Mokka: Why? You people have not been to any theatre other than Sathyam

Sabbu:........err....zzz...errr..

Neo: I don't know... Pilot sounds funny...

Iyer: Why not Kandhaswamy?

BJ: Dai... For the millionth time the movie is....forget it!

Iyer is forced to make a call. Meanwhile Mu2, along with Mama, in the search of the theater Pilot, finds it!

Iyer: Hello. Appa... I'll be late. We are planning for a movie. Quick Gun Murgan.

Click...

Neo: so....

Iyer: When did I say am not coming! When is the show!!!!

Neo calls Mu2.

Neo: Thanks to BJ and Yogu, everyone agreed. All set for Pilot, I say.

What followed was hilarious. The show was at 18:50 and the time was 17:10... BJ was busy cracking jokes. All looked happy. The guys were hungry. It was clear in their faces.

Yogu: Pachi(Machi), let's go Spencer's!

Neo: Why, are you done sighting here ?!

Avi, Iyer, Dinesh burst into laughter.

Sabbu: yeah...yeah... why not... there is bakery near Sathyam. We'll eat something and then go Sathyam....errr... I mean Spencer's Plaza...

Neo: My legs are aching already... Is it necessary!

Iyer: What are we to do for an hour. Sri.Mithai at Spencers!!!

Neo: Shree Mithai...okay...

Sabbu: Spencers... Spencers...Spencers...

Yogu was still busy....

BJ: We are set for yet another adventure...

With less than two 10-rupess notes, we seven trot to Spencers.TROT !!!

Mu2 and Mama were busy getting the tickets...

Iyer: errr.... that fatty.... that police... he... he took everything!

Neo: (raised eyebrows) He only took a ten rupee note!

Iyer: You have the money right. Yogu's money that is :)

Neo: Gave the 800 to Mu2 for tickets, etc... and I have 200! I think we have all rights to convert the 200 to 0

Iyer gives a evil smile. The gang follows. Sabbu looks puzzled. Yogu is scared, still smiling though.

A mini treat at Spencers. Mu2 and Mama join us. Then we make it to the theater called PILOT!

Iyer: You got the tickets!!

Mu2: We have the entire theatre to ourselves...

LOL...ROFL... The guys were so tired that they couldn't complete their laughter.

Time: 18:40

In front of the theater

Yogu and Mu2, Mama were fighting over the expenses, and amusing everyone around! The security, the guy at the ticket counter, the guy at the parking area, the countable people waiting for the movie... Smiles all around!

BJ comments... Mokka comments... Yogu is cornered. Mu2 is enjoying every bit of the happenings. Neo and Iyer are amused watching the scene!

BJ: dai...What is the problem.

Mu2: 200...100....50.. that settles!!!

Bj: Moola !!! Brain-Grain, Moola Mu2!

Yogu blinking ! still blinking! As if someone stole a candy from a baby!

A roar of laughter without Yogu!

Bj: hey yogu, are you questioning Moola's calculating powers! Look at his hair! the antennas are functioning... no trace of wind.. all is well !!!!

Yet another roar of laughter. This time Yogu joined :)

Then the calculation was figured out in a piece of paper, with diagrams, places, persons !

The people around thought we went mad !!!

If only we gave in that much effort for the Mathematics papers in college,... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mama and Mu2 disappeared only to reappear 2 minutes b4 the movie!

Inside the theatre...

All were seated. The theatre was nearly empty... We are present, of course. There were 10 others in pairs. Maybe a little more... but very less...The trailers were so damn funny that....that we had tears laughing!!! The first half of the movie was a little disappointing... BJ saw to it that we enjoyed... His jokes rarely fail... And yes, there was Sabbu with his one-liners.... Sabbu, when in form, can be deadly... Mokka is ALWAYS DEADLY. The second half was just the opposite. Very hilarious. The second half stole the show.

We got QGM syndrome!!! And were speaking His slang.

Stop staring, I say!

Leave the ladies, I say!

A really adventurous day, I say !

I'll get my bike, I say!

Mokkai, I say!

Stop tormenting, I say!

The gang departed...with smiles on their faces. BJ and Neo were waiting for a bus in the wrong bus-stop for thirty minutes !!! It was nearly 2200 hrs when they reached home!

The gang set out for a movie to Sathyam like warriors on an unexplored land. A quest with a certain amount of ambiguity involved. A thrill... At 1630, we find we are Zeroes from Heroes only to become Heroes again at 20:50 by completing the quest at Pilot. :D

What followed was a torrent of tweets !!! Everyone kinda enjoyed.

So, the not-so-well-planned, adventurous day came to an end on a good note...

Neo: So, the seminar is at 1400 hrs. Wat should we do?

Neo: I don't know. All seem pretty interested. Someone has to take the initiative.
I ll make the calls, you gather the details on the theaters!

Mu2: Even if the show is near 1500 hrs, we can risk trying. But we'll have to skip the seminar.

Iyer giggles. Sri undisturbed, still listening, only soul to be doing so. Director of IRS sleeping peacefully in the first row. ~~Shame.~~ :)

Time: 1530 hrs

Neo: Don't worry guys. Mu2 and I will go in 2 min and book the tickets. You all come as soon as possible.

Mu2 and Iyer possess a bike each! So, they are ones we solely depend on many times, all times. Saviors, they are.

Mu2: You are joking. You are still hopeful.

Neo: Yes, I am.

Mu2: So, we are to withdraw cash and then go to Sathyam and then book 10 odd tickets for a 1630 show!!! Comedy sir.

Neo: Okay... So we need money!!! any Sponser !

Yogu: How much??

Neo, Mu2, Iyer: ROFL

Neo: let me see.. more then 500 for sure.

Funny title eh, you will agree when i finish. It is always thrilling when you fight for something that is very uncertain. A short incident follows...

Date: I DON'T REMEMBER
Time: 1200 hrs

TQM(Total Quality Management) class got over. Our gang, as usual, were merry and ready to freak out.

Avi : Hey, so what's on your mind?

Neo: A lot of things...

Avi : !!!

Neo: How many times am I to tell you not to disturb when.... 1400 hrs from my field of view, a blue and a red...

Avi: boy, the blue clearly wins. Yeah,clear enough...LOL...

Neo: yeah, so what were you saying??

Avi : damn man, We were discussing Quick gun Murugan...Are we going or not!

Neo: hell yeah...

Iyer begins his Iyerish talk!

Iyer: hey, we have our entire life in front of us. We can go movies anytime. We have to attend a seminar on 'Water Resources Using Remote Sensing' in an hour... blah blah blah blah....

Neo: Ironic... Delhi iyer, enlighten me... We are in fourth year, and we'll be god knows where in 8 months! And the seminar is gonna be too deep(water resources), too long.

Sri: I won't let you go. If you go, then he will, and then he, and then he....and eventually Iyer and I will be the only ones among the boys attending it.

Neo: SO!!! big deal...we bunked for cricket very many times... and moreover it is just a seminar, with no importance to attendance! You are so funny!

Sri: I need your laptop.

BJ : hey, i ll be near the canteen. Let me know the plan

Mama: i heard it is a dum movie. should we go?

Mama: What if the movie is boring !

Neo: even better. we always enjoy commenting on a boring movie, remember!

Last month I was busy with the OS- Ubuntu. And I was also busy flaunting how superior my OS looks! It is not that big a deal, yet I feel I should have posted these screenshots a few weeks ago. Oh well, no hurry! I thought of scribbling why I prefer Ubuntu to Windows, but that has been talked about already by a lot of people and am still an amateur. Less than a amateur really, if that is even possible. Perhaps, I'll post on it some other day. I can happily say that I have stopped using The Three Finger Salute (CTRL+ALT+DEL) :and life is easy without the need of any Anti-virus software. Click to enlarge the screenshots.

A note of thanks to all the people I have met in life. I have directly and indirectly learned a lot of things from almost all the people I have met in life. Observe and absorb all the goodness is the order of the day! Books, movies and the experiences of people can be one perfect combination to broaden your thoughts; and also your perspectives on various motifs. Briefly, nothing of me is fully original. I am the combined effect of everybody i have ever known! Thank you :)

Jottings on a Saturday:

1) Never be spiteful. It kills!

2) Expect less from people around you; they'll surprise you with something special!

3) Forgive. It makes one feel GODLIKE ! I will not recommend you to thank everyone you meet as everyone has read "You Can Win". Now, it is difficult to know if people are being genuine in their comments!

4) Peace! As a friend of mine always keeps saying, "Make Music, not War."

5) People around can be down, disgusted and depressed. Just listen to them with your ears open, that will do. Don't pretend. No sympathy. Just listen!

6) Keep challenging yourself with something or the other. You can always surprise yourself. It is easy.

I loved Value Education(Moral Science) classes in my schooldays. So, I'll write such hackneyed things often. Read them! They might make your day :D

And yeah, I thank all the readers who unglued me from the T.V. Had it not been for you guys, I would have never thought about writing. A special note of thanks to Neeru and Srinath who consider writing as a constructive hobby.

You hate it, then you love it

No, no, no, nothing heavy this time. I have been getting complaints, so I'll scribble something light. I enjoy reading movie reviews in The Hindu's supplement- Friday Review(now, Cinema Plus). The initial idea of starting a blog was to pen my views on various movies. As most of the times, I gave up the idea as a lot has been said and written by millions of viewers worldwide already, and am impressed. Nevertheless, each individual can always flaunt his/her own style. :)

No, am not here to recommend you a long list of must-watch-movies, nor am I here to give you my never-ending list of favourite movies. The title gives you a clue! It is very rare that we hate a movie first, and then after a while, after having thought about it, after pondering over the unconnected pieces, after having watched it again, we begin reconsidering our views. And finally we land up watching and enjoying the movie for God knows how many times !

Two such movies are Fight Club and The Prestige. The former, being highly controversial for its satirical nature and obscenity, is one movie with the most memorable quotes. Though the movie is a complete opposite of a fairy tale and is dark in many ways, it is very new and I must admit that the crew must have had some crazy time on the sets! A true classic for having broken many grounds. I cannot write more on the movie as the suspense will be revealed! I must warn you though, that certain parts of this movie are very disturbing :) .

The Prestige, a movie by Christopher Nolan, is a mystery with a lot of magic in it. As always, Christopher with his inclination to twist the tale, leaves us spellbound. The portrayal of the characters is truly amazing and it is difficult to know for sure who the good guy is! The movie, with a catchy prologue and a brilliant epilogue, has to be watched very carefully. Watch it! Watch it very carefully!

I recommend The Prestige to anyone above 14. Fight Club fans will raise eyebrows if I say anything on the age as viewer's discretion is highly required. Definitely above 18 and viewer's discretion is a must. Skip it if you are confused! :)

Sadly, You are Selfish

NOTE: Not for those few who live in a fairy land and certainly not for those who are easily offended.

Selfishness is an attribute that is common to all of us. If we don't agree, we are simply deceiving ourselves. Every living soul is selfish. The perspective of people with regards to the word differs and yet I stay with my viewpoint- 'Every living soul is Selfish'.

My writing a post on selfishness reveals a certain degree of selfishness. I write this particular post with a belief that a few people read and notice it; and out of the few, maybe a very few even appreciate it. There lies my selfishness. Crazy me. Why are we humans dominating this world? Humans are the viruses who love multiplying and if possible, take control of everything that is considered matter. There lies the selfishness of humans as a whole. We are ready to shift places to study, to work and to move on in life. There, again, lies our selfishness. We are ever ready to score the best grades possible leaving no chance whatsoever for the not-so-intelligent lot. No, that is not selfishness. That's how differentiation works. Most of us, in short, are pretenders who pretend that we aren't selfish.

The first argument you'll chuck at me is- 'What about all the social workers and the Mother Terasas out there!' Tricky one. Well, they are/were fed up with the happenings around them. Chances are that they sat for a while and analyzed the world as it exists and devoted their lives for the better being of lesser fortunate people. They felt they would make a difference. A sense of selfishness still exist in that that they wanted to feel better and some wanted to set an example for the posterity to follow. "I (WANT TO) feel better helping others"- truly selfish with a sense of selflessness. Selfishness, which of course, is exempted on the basis of being good. Simply admitting that everyone is selfish makes the adjective lose its inherent value. True. Selfishness isn't atmospheric pressure to be measured using a barometer, not at all; yet we have certain degrees of selfishness- a little selfish, very selfish, extremely selfish, etc.

I still don't like the way the world is moving. So rapid, so very confusing. And please don't tell me all those- "Nature is Beautiful and Wisest of all" stories. The place I live in, from my room, I see a tree outside my window crying every time when rain pours. So strange is the world and the people who live in it; there is one group trying to save Mother Earth, in vain and the other trying to destory it! We have also mixed Science and Religion and made this world so uncomfortable to live in. Is it uncomfortable? I am comfortably sitting here, no doubt, but what about the millions who are being miserable and ill-treated at this very moment! I cannot be sure, for history reveals that misery has been a part of our world right from the very beginning. But again, history is written by us humans. State of Devaju- I think I already discussed this.

We humans can love. Love and Selfishness sound very bad together. May they get betrothed. Yes, we are selfish, but we can love as well. And love is more powerful a tool than any other. Being selfish is different from being spiteful. And being selfish is definitely different from being egoistic. Why get annoyed and agitated at people being selfish! Not always necessary. So, next time someone tells "You are Selfish", smirk and give a sneering look, and then tell them to go see their-selves in the mirror. People who live in places with glass windows shouldn't try to break the windows of their neighbours! We are imperfect and that is the beauty of us, Humans. Though we are dark, there is room for light. Ah, it is morning already!

I couldn't conclude it properly because I have thought about it a million times and moreover, I am getting late for college ! Totally enjoyed writing this post ;)

A note on Jain Monks

A really tough topic to write upon considering my (unfavourable)prejudice on Jain sadhus(monks), yet I'll try to remain disinterested and fair on the topic. Jains are basically divided into two sects- Shwethambara and Digambara. Sorry, I don't know the fundamental difference between the two but the one difference I have noticed is that saints in digambars are uncovered completely and those in Shwethambars aren't. These monks belong to one of the three categories:

1) Those who wear white clothes.
2) Those who wear a single piece of cloth.
3) Those who restrict themselves from any form of clothing whatsoever.

*Nuns belong to the first category and are mostly in draped in white saree.
*The terminology of the three categories is not mentioned(by me)due to the complexity of their pronunciation and also the spelling.

Do you know:

1) They do not take bath and they don't use toothbrush or for that matter, even toothpaste. They just wash their hands, feet and face after excretion. They are not permitted to bathe because by that action, microbes and other small organisms on their body may die. No creature should die due to their actions.(They strictly follow this principle)

2)They take food only once in a day. It is a strict practice. They cannot use dishes or sit comfortably on a dining table. They stand, stretch their palms, and someone(usually followers) offer them food. The saints check the food offered very carefully before they consume it. If they find germs, dust or anything displeasing, they leave the food at that very instant and remain hungry till the next day.

3)The food they take is simple and tasteless. They take rice, chapatis made of wheat, coconut water.The food is to get minimum strength required to maintain activities in life. (Well, they read, advise, preach,.....)

4)They often take 'hunger vow'; no food for the day. Sometimes, this hunger vow continues for eight days straight.It is said that the great saint of twentieth century, Acharya Shantisagarji maharaj had a total period of twenty-six years of hunger in his life span of seventy years.

5)They do not use vehicles for movement. They travel on foot. And they walk faster than us! As they refrain themselves from using any means of transportation, they remain in our country.

6) They do not use beds, sleeping bags, bedsheets or rugs. They sleep on wooden planks or wooden cot with a mat on it. During sleep, they do not change their side with the thought that germs moving around might get killed.

7) They do not speak after sunset.

8) They are not expected to involve themselves in any worldly matters.

9)They possess the following :

a) A pincha( a bundle of naturally fallen peacock feathers to brush away the dust while sitting),

b) A kamandala( a wooden vessel with water to clean themselves after going for excretion),

c) Religious books,

d) A pair of spectacles, if necessary. Money and other valuable things are of no concern to them.

10)They are not supposed to get angry- even to a person who blames them for something.

11)They don't drink water throughout the day. They have a fixed(not permanent) time for drinking water too; and they drink water only once in a day.

12)Shaving, haircuts are not allowed. Everything is done with bare hands(without the help of even a pair of scissors).
That is all I know of the Monks. I visited a few saints a few years back. During noon, they give lectures on life and related issues. They have vast knowledge about the history of Jainism. They constantly help(force) people to refrain from dark activities. Though most of the things they do is debatable, they have a large following. Ha, a lighter note this time, certain observations!

1) We have to suffer on earth, no other go; everyone has to. So be ready,on guard always.(as if that is possible!)

2) A moment is best enjoyed when it is totally unexpected.

3) Start sharing your worries and miseries. It makes you feel good, still wondering why though.

4) Just let your "Oh hell, what next!" emotion drive you crazy.

5) When in a loop of troubles, don't go searching for the exit, take a detour.(Warning, very dangerous)

6) "If only" statements are painful, stop using them.(A total waste of time.)

7) Friends are not to be completely trusted. Trust them if only you can trust yourself completely. :)

8) Don't watch all the reality shows. Cartoons are way more better.(There are no age limits for watching cartoons)

9) "Garfield" and "Calvin n Hobbes" bring a smile to many a face every morning. Happiness is contagious, please don't pretend to be immune. ;) Read them,enjoy !

10) Randomness, if not the best, is another way to put things in order.

The other day I was reading Michael Crichton's Next, a science fiction. I wish I read more of this author, but hey, better late than never. After turning a few pages my bulb tinged not pertaining to anything in the context of the book but for something totally different. I had considered it a year back when I was down with chickenpox but gave up the idea. Now again, I deeply began to consider the possibilities. What is it that caused me to deeply cogitate again? Let's go on a slow yet not-so-comfortable ride, shall we.

Ever thought of life in the form of "IF" clauses, I bet you have.

If only i did this at that time, then...

If only he asked me to help, ...

If only I gave my 100%, ......

If not ... then ...

If I get a chance in .... else I ll ....

and many more...

No, am not learning C or any of the OOPS languages. There are so many times that we rewind and think of the things that bother(ed) us. But have we ever paused to think over why we actually did something that we weren't supposed to do. Ever had the conception of us being controlled by some alien-force in the same manner as we control characters on video-games ! Am sure you are in a position to conclude that am insane.Wait till I finish.

Here goes. Consider for the sake of a healthy argument that am right. Does it seem so impractical? You can argue that if you were being controlled and have no decision that is yours to make, then how about not following whatever is decided- like kicking the ball with the other foot or missing a bus or denying something that you wouldn't actually deny. My answer is that it is all well-devised,well monitored and even well played. Just like a good computer program, even a reasonable doubt is not left unchecked. Well, there is a very good possibility of us falling into tricky clauses then! Clauses like if we kick the ball with the wrong foot, we fall and bleed or if we miss a bus, we ll have to face bad consequences. Sounds grotesque. Maybe we missed something. Maybe like in our world, there are good programmers and a very large group of poor gamers. And the best trick those programmers pulled is making us believe that our world exist. Time, according to my theory then is just some coveted program. And so is the theory of relativity and so is gravity. And if so I must admit gravity is the best thing that they came up with. Am not talking about the movie Matrix here, though it seems very similar. It is just an analogy. By programming I don't really mean programming. I mean something that is possibly beyond our current understanding. Something that cannot be perceived even if we try to. Something mysterious and incomprehensible. Why am I trying, you ask? I always learn it the hard way.

Are we really dummies then? Are we all part of a big joke? Or is it just one little thought blown out-of-proportions! Another sleepless night. Is it written ? Should I try denying it and sleep? May be it is written that way! May be I am to ponder upon this the whole night and not miss the first hour tomorrow in college.

Musings on a Moonless Night

Pondering over and over, with no words satisfactory, I'll have to write in a random yet pleasing manner yet again. On a blissful night with the wind blowing, a few birds chirping, the sound of all the human-invented, cacophonous machines and their users resting, I wake up to experience what people believe could be experienced only during the early mornings- The beauty of emptiness.

With the positive and already known things said, I move on. It is only during the nights, after almost all souls fall that I start to contemplate on the strangest of things. For the past few months many thoughts have kept creeping up leaving me awake at nights. Not an insomniac yet. The world is moving at a pace so fast, it is almost unfathomable. The population, the fights, the sufferings, the disasters, the pretentious nature of our very men, and such similar thoughts keep bothering me time and again. Did we move much faster then we were supposed to? Must we belong to some other age, stone age for instance? Are we so busy fighting with time that we forget the simplest of things? Are we hurting ourselves every second and waiting for time to stop? Are we that helpless? Are we viruses spreading all over and scared of our existence? Aren't we shouting out aloud for more space? ARE WE REALLY LIVING LIFE? I sound depressing now a days. :)

The sleepless nights help get rid of the nasty dreams. Nasty and dreams don't go hand in hand, do they? But am not speaking of nightmares. How can they be called nightmares when am living them at times. It is a strange feeling. Dejavu is in my list of favourite words, no doubt, but it is a fact of life. I believe in the concept of parallelism; even multiple parallelism. Have you ever waked up to find that you are older than you thought? Yeah, what I mean is being younger in your dream and being your actual self in reality. Now, why are we bothered and at times haunted by nasty dreams. It cannot be cyclic. According to me it is all connected. Some miscalulation ends in dreams. And some major miscalculation ends up revealing a cue of our future.Blurry images like puzzles, the solution of which is only got when we experience it in reality. So next time you land up in any such blurry area, keep your eyes open! Ironic, I guess.Again.

Randomness in thoughts is a way to check the veracity of oneself! From the beauty of emptiness, I land up interpreting the complexity of the concept of dreams. May be not so cogent , but musings are never cogent, are they! Lots more to share.

The Dark Side of me

Happiness! The word seemed almost elusive a few years back. I was naive then.Things have changed and so have my perception of the word. I have been longing to write something that inpires me, if not others.Something simple,something we all know and yet forget. A simple collection of thoughts.

*flashback...

It was in the month of september 2004 when I felt very indifferent. Callous would be the best fit. "Why the hell must I care if he lives or dies?" attitude was right at the top. And this continued till the demise of my grandfather. After that certain things changed and change was/is good. I realized that I wasn't an abnormal kiddo after all. It was just the pressure that I entrusted on myself during those two most pathetic years before college.

*Back to reality...

Death is strange and painful. The Silence.The monotonous feeling .The feeling of mortality.The fear. Dark clouds all over the head. But can death be blissful! Yes,it can. The suffering endured on earth may be even more than afterlife.Have you ever been down and depressed, felt that everything is running away from you and you inturn wanted a way out? Read on...(Rapid and random thoughts ahead; not for the faint hearted)

At times we think the world is against us and in those moments we are indeed weak,scared and ALONE. And one fine day everything is back to normal, we are happy and have that smile back. The cycle repeats once,twice,many times. After two or three rounds we get used to it and say "COME,WHAT MAY". We start wondering if there really exist any super-power.Is it even worth praying! So then what is happiness? Or for that matter, are we all in the pursuit of happiness?Or is it commonplace and too banal to discuss. Let's find out,shall we.

Happiness,a word has different meanings for different beings. Random thoughts can give a slightly explicit picture. For convinence I would like to use and twist the (happiness) word as i wish,pardon me. Happiness is not permanent ; happiness is when I pour out the secrets to someone sincerely willing to spare his heart and ears; happiness is when I bunk classes and tests and spend memorable time with friends and family at the theatres or on the playgound ; happiness is when I wake up in the morning only to find out that everything is well and my morning tea is hot and ready ;happiness is when I kick some butt in video games; happiness is when we are we and not I ; happiness is and will be what I perceive it to be. Is it really that simple? Yes,my friend,it is. You have every right to smile and laugh and so do I. So next time when people sitting next to you laugh, don't laugh for the sake of laughing! You have every right to BE YOURSELF. What happens if happiness becomes a routinue :) ! Then it is no longer happiness and we go searching for something new.

Some say an optimist is one who sees the positive side of the half-filled glass .Clearly the optimist is one who sees only the good side of life .In that case those some remain satisfied with the minimal possible ,I think. Did i just say that! NO,I scribbled it down :). Why not think like a pessimist all the possible (bad)outcomes and then work towards whatsoever undertaken like an optimist. Ironic !

Is there be a place worse than EARTH! Or can there be a place as divine and green as our mother earth? Confused?Let me conclude by saying that if you are under the conception that earth is heaven and we have to face the (hardrock)music after death somwhere worse, welcome to the Optimist group. :D

The Small,Little Child

Hello friends,

I have, if not always, eighty out of hundred times made a mockery of the scenes wherein the blue-eyed guy throws verbose lines at the girl draped in pink. Pure gibberish, i surmised. Ever heard of a boomerang effect! Yeah,boomerang.Unfortunately, i fell for all those superfluous verses after reading a few posts on a friend's blog. Well, words do have power and we cannot deny that fact. Hence i thought why not pen some lines that sound romantic in tune and are in rhythm. And romantic i shall be. Not an easy task for someone who isn't committed. But by no means a tough task for someone who has watched tons of (bollywood) movies :)

Hello readers,

Poetry is something which is tough to define. Ask 10 and get 20 different answers kinda-thing ! I hated it during my high school days. Mom and i had heated argument on it and the count goes up to a thousand times. She, being a student of literature loved the words of Worthworth and Frost while i got annoyed with their wordplay. It was in ninth grade that my English teacher, Mr Edward Joseph(one of my favourites) taught the class or rather made us understand the inherent meaning of the poem "On His Blindness". Well i was literally shocked. How can a person tell that God is there to give us problems based on our proportions of handling them! WOW,that is when my thoughts drifted. Though poems to many is an idiot's way of expressing something, i think there is more to it.

Why pen emotions in verses when is it more easy to adhere to meaningful sentences?Ask it to poetry lovers. It is analogous to music for them. It is enlightment. It takes them to a new world. I hardly understand poems on one read. It seems too abstruse. But once am able to connect it with the poet's thoughts there is a smile; a different smile.

Personally am not an admirer of poetry. Neither have I read any poem other than those that appeared in my school texts. But i find it relatively easy to summarize a poem than a big story. I do write a couple of poems when my solitude turns to loneliness. My definition of a poem : fact with fun and pun attached or intertwining of thoughts with imaginations.

I thereby complete this not so interesting post with an intersting activity for you. I present to you one of my poems. It is left to you to give a suitable title. If possible, summarize it. A challenge!

13th april 2007

Was a pleasant day, I got up,

Shocked ! Bewildered !!

Thought i was dead;

With the possiblity that it is a dream,

I tried to get off my bed

Tried and Tried, but in vain

All over my head there was rain;

Couldn't understand the happenings,

There ain't any ropes nor my limbs tied

The pain was unbearable,

Got desperate and cried and cried

All my life never did i see a wonderful sight,

Everything seemed lustrous and bright.

I heard a voice

A voice so soft

"Angel is my name,

Is Neo ready to set out in my flame?"

Impossible for me,

I could hardly see,

Earth or Heaven!was tough for me..

Confused, I did really note

A bizzare smile on the Angel's face,

To my right, saw a flying boat.

My face went blank;

Angel took out her wand

I knew between the boat and the angel

There existed a bond.

A blue lightening hit the band on my hand

Scared, Neo shouts "I don't know heaven yet"

The angel grinned.

"I have your answer",She said

And without a trace, She disappeared.

Black, everything seemed Black!

And Black was great;

Neo's limbs begun to move..

I was fighting, fighting very hard;

Fighting to uncover my blanket.

As i got up from my bed

A commotion started in the neurons of my head

Was it really an angel?

Or was it God??

Was it really a dream?

Or reality??

Impossible to think !

Impossible to judge !!

Impossible for me to understand !!!

Hello people,

Blogging, i thought was for all those insipid introverts who couldn't express themselves in real life. It's obvious that i was under some misconception. On the contrary, there are blogs which are informative, well-written, and fun to read. I came to know about it some years back from newspapers and friends. I kept thinking why some people waste their time in it; why would anyone be interested to read something written by an amateur ????Why would people want to read something which is not written in proper english???Why in the world they prefer to read something which might contain false facts !!!!! I still don't know completely. May be they are somehow able to connect theirselves to the thoughts of the author. May be they are impressed by the way the author expresses his/her views.

I like to pen thoughts rather than discuss it with everyone; moreover one thinks while penning his thoughts. I had read a few of my friends' blogs and they were impressive. I have started blogging cause some friends told me to and it is far better than wasting time in social networking sites[:)]. I do hope to continue this as a new constructive hobby.
